Industrial Assets Library

This blogpost is a continuation of a project im working on to build out my personal kit library, this one is seperate from the previous ‘Basic Building Kits Breakdown’ blog where this time im focusing on building out industrial kit assets to use in the future.

A few weeks back I was going through some old assets and found a few models, things Ive started in the past that eventually got lost to time, decided to brainstorm how I can remaster alotta these peices, especially since I felt like this would be a waste of effort to get rid of them alltogether.

Past Industrial assets exploration

My plan overall (like the basic buildings kit project) was to create extremely basic modular kits and assets for reuse, I wanted them to be simple enough so in the future I can remix them into diffrent personal projects.

Modular IBeams 11-27-24

I started off with working on these past IBeam models by evaluating what is needed and what isnt, how managable the geometry is, and if its possible to turn these into a modular kit.

Past Ibeam Models

There wasnt alot to work with these models, alotta detail in parts that dont need it, would be difficult to make modular varriants and cleaning up geo would be tedious.

Started by reworking one Ibeam and modeling/cleaning it up to be in its most basic form, then from there started playing with Ideas on how this model and its future varriants would assemble.

with a few test Assemblies and test imports in ue5 I decided to call this one done and move onto creating larger size varriants.

small Ibeams varriant

medium Ibeams varriant

large Ibeams varriant

mega Ibeams varriant

This was one area of the industrial kits done and now my plan is to finish up the rest, gonna focus on structures for now and evaluate what props are worth keeping.
